Today we release new versions of both X-Cart 4 and X-Cart 5 classic. And though little time passed from the release of 4.6.5, the developers working on X-Cart 4 Classic managed to do a lot. In addition to the new features listed in the title, they also implemented a number of other improvements: the "identifier exists" attribute for "Google Shopping", the built-in Database Backup no longer depends on the SOAP, AvaTax (real-time tax calculation) fixed to work correctly for the "anonymous" customers.«...»

Is storing credit card numbers in a database allowed? Basically you can store it but it has to be protected in accordance with PCI DSS standards. Having this information in your database makes you an extremely attractive target for hackers. Do you think you can protect it? Think of it better. Your server and network also must be secure. Paranoidly secure. And your business processes too. And If any piece of this puzzle is not PCI compliant, you risk being hit with up to $200 000 fine. But does it mean you should forever forget about the convenience of storing credit cards ? No it does not.
